Lucia Dore has worked as an economist, a financial journalist and editor, public relations professional, film director and producer, English teacher and entrepreneur.
She has worked in business in different countries for three decades, including Europe, the Middle East and Asia. “English was always the language in which business was conducted, even when other languages, such as Arabic, might be the ‘everyday’ language”, she says.
Lucia has a MFA (Film) from the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand and made a documentary in 2015 entitled “Stepping up: NZ’s response to the refugee crisis”. She also has a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand; a post-graduate Diploma in Journalism from the University of Canterbury from where she was awarded the Robert Bell Travelling Scholarship; a LGSM Diploma in Public Speaking from Guildhall University in London; a LTCL Diploma in Speech and Drama from Trinity College; and a Diploma in the Economics of Political Development from the London School of Economics (LSE) Summer School. She also has a TESOL certificate from Vietnam, where, in 2019, she was teaching English as a second language.
She owns Lucia Dore Consulting which offers advice in public relations, investor relations, public affairs, business strategy, cross-cultural issues and provides investment opportunities.She has written books, white papers and management reports on business issues, such as knowledge management and shareholder value.
As a result of her work, Lucia has an impressive list of contacts across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the UK, Asia/Pacific and Australasia. These include heads of government-owned entities, family businesses, banking, investment and private equity firms, mergers and acquisition (M&A) advisory firms, law firms, security houses and legal and regulatory bodies. She was also a macro-economist at the New Zealand Treasury.
